Let it Out

Some of you know I've been working on a youth suicide prevention campaign for Wyoming over the past year and a half. It's a big challenge. Wyoming has one of the highest teen suicide rates in the country, it's rural and isolated, and people have easy access to guns. We determined that the standard, sterile Department of Health-style campaigns weren't effective, so we created a campaign that was directly targeted at young people (ages 15-24). I thought I'd share some of the stuff we've created.

TV Spots. These were done in stop-motion animation - my experience creating these kind of videos in high school with my nerdy friends came in handy. The spots will run on MTV, Spike, Cartoon Network, etc. We intentionally made them look kind of amateurish, a la YouTube.

Website. The site is designed to engage young people and get them to talk about suicide, without being dull or authoritative. Many adults believe that talking about suicide with youth will "put the idea in their heads". Just the opposite is true. The site features multimedia, games and places to talk. Take a look.

What a great campaign. I didn't know you did this... or maybe I did and just don't remember. This is an awesome cause, I like the videos, well done!
